Mask off ;)

This month we are all about women empowerment as you might have seen.

I decided to focus on skin care for this post. There is no better feeling than pulling off falsies after a long day and removing all of your makeup, ahhhh so lekker!

I want to encourage you ladies to feel comfortable in your own skin and to LOVE your bare face.

My daily skin-care routine consists of the following products (yes, they are super affordable):

Johnson’s nourishing cream wash for dry skin

This has small microbeads that gently exfoliate your skin whilst cleansing it at the same time.

I will add that this face wash is really runny and not what you usually expect when it comes to face wash consistency.

This works perfectly for my normal-dry skin.

Johnson’s hydrating 24-hr day cream

I love this not only because it is really moisturising but also due to the fact that it is SPF 15.

Protecting your skin from the sun is vital and should never be neglected.

As the name suggests, this product is very hydrating and I would say it is the reason that my dry skin is no longer THAT dry.

I use this every day :)

The Body Shop Chinese ginseng and rice clarifying polishing powder

Okay so, I think this has to be my fav of the featured products. Why you ask?

Ginseng is known for its anti-ageing properties (boosts collagen) and also evens+ brightens your skin!

Rice powder has anti-inflammatory properties and is also known to smooth out your skin. In addition to the benefits already mentioned, rice powder is great for absorbing excess skin oils and aids in skin whitening.

L’Oréal pure clay detox mask

The infamous dupe for the ‘Glam Glow super mud mask’ for those of us who are on a budget (R150 at Clicks/Dischem).

This charcoal mask draws out any impurities and is really great when trying to avoid any break-outs and minimising the appearance of pores.

My chin area has always been prone to break-outs and since using this product pimples/blackheads in that area has decreased (do not expect to get zero pimples, that is highly unrealistic as skin is way more complex than putting on a mask every second day to avoid pimples/blackheads/blemishes).

I do make use of other skin-care products and will feature them on the blog. I want to stress that skin care comes from within, what you put into your body is what you will get out.

Common tips like; drinking lots of water and not eating too much oily foods are tried and true when it comes to healthy looking skin.

Skin care is a journey and one worth embarking on. I was never that girl to have a skin care routine I thought “Ag, the makeup will cover it anyways.”

Shame- that was so far off. The secret to good makeup is good skin!

Happy 1st of March gals.
